HIGH VOLUME LOW
SPEED FANS
High Volume Low Speed (HVLS) fans are large, ceiling-mounted ventilation fans that turn slowly, producing continuous air columns that move gently downwards and then outwards. This creates a natural cooling and ventilation effect which people experience as feeling up to 8°C cooler. Rather than adding thermal energy to the air or removing it, HVLS fans move large masses of air and enhance destratification and evaporation.
BENEFITS OF HVLS
While the movement of air does not lower the actual temperature of a space, the airflow created by an HVLS fan can make people feel up to 10°C cooler thanks to the evaporative cooling effect they feel on their skin.
- Affordable: Low-energy, low-cost solution that ensures thermal comfort for your workforce and visitors.
- Resilient: Can be run using back-up power systems during unplanned outages or loadshedding.
- Sustainable: Reduce carbon emissions and can easily be driven by renewable energy sources such as solar power.
WHY CHOOSE HVLS?
HVLS is more practical and affordable than conventional HVAC.
HVLS solutions are quieter than evaporative cooling technology, with lower maintenance requirements and improved performance in high humidity scenarios.
WITHOUT HVLS
In buildings without HVLS, high ambient temperatures can ultimately lead to people suffering from heat stress. Long before this point is reached, however, they will start to become less productive. There is a direct, proven link between perceived temperature and performance (in terms of rate of work, fatigue, accuracy, and motivation).
Warm air rises, displacing cooler air which sinks to the floor. This warm air is then trapped against the roof in a process known as stratification. Air quality is reduced, and even where the hot air is able to escape, it is replaced by colder outside air being drawn into the building, which can result in higher energy costs for heating.
WITH HVLS
HVLS fans cause destratification of the air, with columns of air being pushed down to the floor where they form horizontal floor jets that move outwards in all directions. The width of the column of the air, and the height of the horizontal floor jet, are determined by the diameter of the HVLS aerofoil blades rotating above.
HVLS significantly contributes to improved thermal comfort.
HVLS AND HVAC
Everbreeze HVLS systems can be integrated into your existing HVAC solution to deliver improved air circulation, air quality and ventilation, as well as enhanced thermal comfort. The perceptible air movement caused by HVLS fans helps the human body to cool itself through both convection and evaporation.
Installing Everbreeze HVLS fans in conjunction with HVAC offers multiple advantages, including being able to adjust the specifications of your proposed HVAC installation:
- Improved air circulation and quality
- Reduced ducting requirements
- Reduced installation costs (first cost) and running costs (energy bills)
- A simpler system overall (less complexity)
- Reduced maintenance burden
The Everbreeze Difference
Designed and manufactured in South Africa imported HVLS fans can be expensive due to long lead times and limited support in terms of installation, servicing and spares. Everbreeze HVLS fans use reliable, top-quality components and locally available materials for more affordable solutions.
A YEAR-ROUND SOLUTION
- Summer: The horizontal floor jet has a cooling effect on the skin and the evaporation helps people avoid heat-related health consequences.
- Winter: At the flick of a switch, you can reverse your Everbreeze HVLS fans and circulate warm air trapped against the roof of your building. This creates a warmer average air temperature throughout your space without high airflow or drafts, and can save you up to 30% on your heating costs by evenly distributing the warmer air.
Reduces carbon emissions and can easily be driven by renewable energy sources
